Old Man Height - 22", Width - 15", Depth - 12". One-of-a-kind figure whose head and limbs are sculpted from polymer clay, with a cloth body over a wire armature, and glass eyes. He wears the loincloth, tunic, leggings, and moccasins typical of early Blackfoot dress, and made from original patterns. Old Man's buffalo robe has cave painting designs of animals. When the World was very new, the Great Spirit sent Old Man, called Napi by the Blackfoot people, to arrange the rivers and streams, to create the mountains and plains, and to make the earth ready for animals and people. After Napi created places for all living things, he opened his great buffalo robe and the animals, birds, and insects took their places as the Great Spirit intended. -- Blackfoot Mythology |
